FootageBank HD Selected for Exclusive Representation of
L.A. Derby Dolls Footage LOS ANGELES, October 2, 2009 – FootageBank HD, the sole footage company specializing in High Definition (HD) content, announced today that it has been selected as the exclusive footage house representing the L.A. Derby Dolls, Southern California’s premiere all-female, banked track roller derby league. With more than 150 skaters, the L.A. Derby Dolls currently feature five home teams, two all-star travel teams, and are one of just five leagues in the country who skate on a thrilling banked track. With today’s movie release of “Whip It” – Drew Barrymore’s directorial debut that focuses on roller derby and includes participation of the L.A. Derby Dolls and several of their skaters (including co-stars of the film, Kristen “Krissy Krash” Adolfi and Rachel “Iron Maiven” Piplica) – there is expected to be an even greater interest in roller derby footage. “Clients are always looking for exciting, fast action, extreme sports clips and roller derby provides that in every way,” said Paula Lumbard, founder and president of FootageBank HD. “The energy captured on this footage is a testament to how hard these women work and all the skaters are fully released which is hard to obtain in most sports footage.” footagehead.com, another company founded by Lumbard, is a sponsor of one of the L.A. Derby Dolls’ home teams, The Fight Crew. “Professionally and personally, we’ve enjoyed working with Paula’s companies so when we had the opportunity to give exclusive rights to our footage, we knew right away that we wanted to work with FootageBank HD,” said league co-founder Rebecca Ninburg (a.k.a. Demolicious). “We both take our work seriously, but we also know how to have fun and also to give back to our communities. Our partnership with FootageBank HD is a match at all levels.” Footage of the L.A. Derby Dolls is available online now at www.footagebankhd.com.
